Overview

Abstract

Electronic voting systems promise increased accessibility and efficiency in democratic processes, but must balance security, usability, and verifiability. PyVote presents a secure and efficient electronic voting system featuring a user-friendly graphical user interface built in Python. The system implements cryptographic protocols for ballot security, voter authentication, and audit trail generation, while maintaining an intuitive interface accessible to non-technical voters.

Co-author — system architecture, GUI development, security analysis.

Details

Co-author. Contributed to system architecture for secure electronic voting, GUI development, and security analysis. Participated in paper writing.

Challenges

Balancing security guarantees with user-friendly interface design
Ensuring audit trail integrity without compromising voter anonymity

Key Contributions

Secure electronic voting architecture with end-to-end encryption
Intuitive GUI making secure voting accessible to non-technical users
Comprehensive audit trail and verification mechanisms

Impact

Demonstrates that secure electronic voting systems can be both cryptographically sound and user-accessible, bridging the gap between security research and practical deployment.

Lessons Learned

Security and usability are not opposing goals — they must be designed together from the start
Audit trails designed for transparency build more trust than black-box security claims
